BRB, Fixing My Life (aka Dealing with Stress đŸ˜”â€đŸ’«)

Heads up, bestie—April is Stress Awareness Month. 🧠✹
Written by: Carmellie Ocampo & Edited by: Latrell Robles
Nope, di ito about glorifying stress (ew). It’s your sign to slow down, mag-reflect, at alagaan ang sarili mo—mentally and emotionally. No pressure, no shame. Just you, being real with how you feel. Because mental health is health.

So let’s talk: what is stress, anyway? đŸ§ đŸ«š

Is it that heavy feeling when deadlines pile up? ‘Yung heart race pag may life drama? 😬 Or just that random ugh vibe for no reason? đŸ˜©

Yep, that’s stress. And it shows up differently for everyone.

Sometimes it’s obvious—like when you’re juggling school, work, at may family chika pa sa gilid. But sometimes, it’s sneaky. You’re just tired all the time, easily irritated, or feeling off kahit wala namang nangyayaring major event.. That’s still stress.

Basically, stress is your body’s natural reaction to pressure or challenges. Parang internal alarm system siya na nagsasabing, “Uy, something’s not right.” Minsan helpful siya—like when it pushes you to finish a task or get out of danger. But when it sticks around too long? That’s when it messes with your mood, focus, and even your health.

Feeling off lately? Here’s a quick vibe check to see if stress might be creeping in:

  • Lagi kang pagod kahit kakagising mo lang
  • Ang hirap mag-focus or parang lutang 24/7
  • Mabilis kang mairita or sumabog kahit maliit lang na bagay
  • Palaging kabado or may “tight” feeling sa chest
  • Nagkaka-breakouts or weird body pains (hello, stress acne & stiff neck 👋)
  • Nawawalan ka ng gana sa mga dati mong gustong gawin
  • Either walang gana kumain or kain lang nang kain
  • Hirap matulog, o laging puyat kahit pagod na pagod ka na
  • You just feel meh or “off” kahit wala namang specific na reason

Lowbat Ka Na Ba? Let’s Recharge That Energy 🔋

  1. Take intentional breaks.
You don’t have to be on 24/7. Take breaks, step away from your screen, and just exist. Mindfulness helps.
  2. Limit the doomscrolling.
Scrolling through bad news all day? Nah, save your mental space. Curate your feed with positive content—memes, nature vids, or whatever makes you smile.
  3. Use your phone to relax, not just work.
Use apps for relaxation—guided meditations, calming sounds, or even virtual pets. Technology isn’t all chaos!
  4. Do something creative.
Whether it’s art, photography, writing, or DIY—expressing yourself creatively helps release stress and clears your mind.
  5. Practice gratitude—daily.
Every night, jot down 3 things you’re thankful for. Shifting your focus can help reset your brain and lift your mood.
  6. Get moving—any way you like.
Whether it’s dance, stretching, or just walking around the block, your body needs movement to fight stress. Find what feels good for you.
  7. Limit toxic people (and vibes).
Don’t be afraid to protect your energy. Set boundaries with people or content that drains you.
  8. Do a “screen detox” day.
Take a whole day (or even just a few hours) away from screens—no social media, no work emails. Your mind will thank you.
  9. Find your zen space.
Create a chill corner in your room or apartment. Whether it’s with a cozy chair, fairy lights, or your favorite scent, make it a place where you can unwind.
  10. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Talking to a therapist, a trusted friend, or even using mental health apps isn’t weakness—it’s self-care. Your mental health matters.
  11. Remember: you’re allowed to pause, reset, and take things one step at a time. You don’t have to hustle every minute.
  12. Your peace > all the pressure. âœŒđŸŒ
