“Himala”

Released on December 25, 1982, Himala remains one of the most powerful and thought-provoking Filipino films of all time. Directed by Ishmael Bernal and starring Nora Aunor, the film tells the gripping story of Elsa, a simple woman from a poor town who claims to have received a divine miracle. As faith, desperation, and hysteria spread, the town spirals into chaos, leading to one of the most unforgettable endings in Philippine cinema history.

More than four decades later, Himala continues to be a cultural and cinematic gem, with its themes of religion, mass hysteria, and human nature still relevant today.

Do you believe in miracles? Or, as Elsa said—“Walang himala!”
