CATHERINA D. VILAR
Catherina “Cathy” Vilar, also known as “Katherine de Leon,” “Katherine de Leon-Vilar” and “Catherine Vilar” has been a broadcast media professional at People’s Television Network (PTV), Intercontinental Broadcasting Network (IBC TV 13), Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM), and other government media networks for over three decades.[1]
On November 24, 1989, then-Katherine de Leon premiered as co-host for a horse racing show called “Silip… sa Karera,” which aired on Channel 13.[2] She became a Newscaster for The Hourly Newsbreak at PTV 4 and was later tapped as Half-time reporter for all amateur sports coverage of Vintage Enterprise such as the PBL and UAAP in 1990. She moved up to being Kaypee at the half segment Host for the PBA coverage of Vintage Enterprise which aired on the People’s Television Network (PTV). She holds the honor of being the first female courtside reporter for those seasons of the Philippine Basketball Association during the 90s.
Catherine Vilar also anchored “The Eleven O’Clock News” at Islands TV-13 (now IBC TV 13) from October 1, 1990 to March 9, 1992. In 1994, Cathy hosted a public service show for IBC 13 called “Konsumer Korner.”[3] She returned to PTV to anchor the noontime newscast, “Pangunahing Balita” from 1992 to 1995. She has also worked with other veteran journalists at PTV’s “Balitang Ala-Una” around that time.[4]
When the “Philippine Lotto Draw” telecast was launched on March 8, 1995 at PTV,[5] Catherine was one of its original hosts. She stayed on the daily lotto draw broadcasts until 2001.
From 2001 to 2006, Catherine was the main anchor for “Teledyaryo,” the flagship newscast of the People’s Television Network (formerly the National Broadcasting Network). Teledyaryo was also the Philippines’ first local newscast to be broadcasted internationally through NBN World. Catherine Vilar also anchored the late-night counterpart of the newscast called “Teledyaryo: Final Edition” for two years from 2006 to 2008.
In 2022, Catherine Vilar hosted IBC 13’s election series, “Bet to Serve.” She was able to interview then-senatorial candidates, Chel Diokno[6] and Antonio Trillanes IV[7]. In 2023, she hosted the legislative body-centric public affairs program for IBC 13 called “Ito ang Kongreso,” and since 2024, she has been hosting the news and updates public affairs program for the same network. The show is called “Ang Senado ng Pilipinas.”[8]
Career as Media Executive
During the term of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Vilar was appointed as Board Member of the Movie & Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), representing the media sector that oversees the mandate of the agency to review and classifies movies, television programs and related promotional materials, ensuring they comply with the country’s standards for decency and morality.
In September 2021, former President Rodrigo Duterte appointed her as one of the Board Members of Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation.[9] She continues to serve President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. for the same post.
Awards and Recognitions
On February 12, 2025, Catherine Vilar was awarded the “Outstanding Public Affairs TV Program Host 2024-2025” and the MOPC “Bell of Freedom and Excellence Award” by The Manila Overseas Press Club (Asia’s Oldest Press Club) for IBC’s “Ito ang Kongreso.”[10] The award-giving body took note of the program’s efforts to bring the legislative branch of the country closer to the Filipino people.
Her weekly program at IBC TV 13 called “Ang Senado ng Pilipinas” was also nominated as the “Best Public Affairs Program” for 2025 by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television.[11] Episodes of “Ang Senado ng Pilipinas” may be viewed on IBC TV 13’s YouTube page.[12]

Jennifer G. Jurado, 54 years old, is a seasoned public servant with more than 20 years experience in Government Office. Before joining IBC, she served as a Board Member of Northern Food Corporation (NFC).
She worked at the Sandiganbayan 5th Division as Executive Assistant. Jurado was also an Internal Control Officer of the Audit Department at Philippine Tourism Authority.
She is presently connected at Ro-Wel Corporation as VP for Operation. This esteemed worker has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She is fully committed to working in the field of Public Service.

MIGUEL G. DAMASO
With over 45 years of legal practice, Atty. Miguel G. Damaso, 73 years old, is a seasoned lawyer, specializing in telecommunications, litigation, labor law, arbitration, dispute resolution, and immigration. He is a graduate of Ateneo de Manila College of Law (1978) and recently retired as a Senior Partner and now serves as Counsel for a firm.
He has represented clients in trial and appellate courts, Senate and Congressional hearings, and key regulatory agencies. His expertise includes defense in libel and public office cases, labor mediation, corporate HR compliance, and immigration matters. An active member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Quezon City Chapter, Atty. Damaso continues to provide strategic legal counsel across various industries.

Atty. Roberto R. Ferrer, 74 years old, is an experienced lawyer with 40 years of experience in corporate, criminal, maritime, and civil law, as well as negotiation and mediation. He has his own law firm and has held key roles, including consultant for the PDEA and Manila City Council, Senior Technical Adviser to the City Mayor in Caloocan, City Administrator in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, and part of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Legal Office.
He earned his Master of Laws from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (2012), Bachelor of Laws from Far Eastern University (1984), and admitted to the practice of law in 1985. He is also a member of the IBP (CALAMANA Chapter) and Rizal Scout of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
He is also a law professor for 30 years in different learning institutions and has a background in broadcasting and hosts his own show, “Atty. Bob Ferrer’s Isang Tawag Ka Lang” on DWAN 1206 AM, where listeners can call in for legal advice and guidance on everyday issues.

Atty. Alexis Abastillas-Suarez, 51 years old, is a competent lawyer with a strong background in general litigation, labor law advocacy, corporate and tax cases, intellectual property protection, family relations and civil laws. She also provides legal support for clients involved in Senate inquiries and has vast experience in legislative work.
She earned her BS in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines, Diliman (1997) and her Law degree from the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod (2003) before passing the Bar in 2004.
Currently a partner at Ranada Malaya Sanchez & Suarez Law Office, she previously spent nearly two decades as an associate lawyer at Ranada Malaya Sanchez Simpao & Ortega Law Office. Her legislative experience includes key roles in the House of Representatives (15th and 17th Congresses) and as a Senate Consultant since 2022.

Atty. Junel Anthony Ama y Dizon
Corporate Secretary,
Atty. Junel Anthony Ama y Dizon was appointed as Corporate Secretary of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) on July 22, 2025. He also serves as Administrative Manager of the corporation, bringing with him extensive experience in corporate governance, legal practice, and public service.
A seasoned legal professional, Atty. Ama is a Managing Partner of Ama and Saruca Law Office and Ama and Paredes Law Firm and has been engaged in private legal practice for decades. His career spans various key roles, including Chief of Staff in the House of Representatives, Legal Officer, and National Security Officer, reflecting a strong background in both government service and regulatory compliance.
He earned his Juris Doctor from the Lyceum of the Philippines College of Law and previously studied at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He also holds a degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines.
In his role as Corporate Secretary, Atty. Ama plays a vital part in ensuring IBC’s adherence to corporate governance standards, particularly in compliance with the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG). His leadership supports the corporation’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational excellence.
