With Mapúa University taking the helm as the host for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 101, it is set to introduce a bracket system for both basketball and volleyball.

Set to begin on October 1 at the Araneta Coliseum, 10 schools will be divided into two brackets and will still feature a double-round robin.

After the elimination round, the league will highlight a crossover quarterfinals with a best-of-three battle before moving on to the next stage.

However, the last playoff spot will be determined through a play-in stage where the fourth and fifth-ranked teams will be fighting for.

Mapúa representative Melchor Divina bared that this integration is inspired by international leagues such as the United States NCAA and the National Basketball Association.

The opening day tussles include defending champion Mapua against Lyceum of the Philippines University (2:30 pm) and San Beda University versus College of Saint Benilde (5:00 pm.). – VC
