An unnamed Kiwi citizen of New Zealand was forced into jail for two months after overfeeding her dog named Nuggi with 8-10 pieces of chicken each day that resulted in his collapse and his untimely demise.

Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) conducted a search warrant to the fur parent’s property where they successfully captured Nuggi, who already weighed 53.7 kilos, for his refuge from the abusive and neglectful master.

Aside from becoming overweight and having difficulty in moving around, SPCA discovered that the poor dog’s nails were also overgrown, was diagnosed with conjunctivitis and with lots of skin problems, and was in great discomfort after being immersed under the blazing sun every day.

Apart from imprisonment, the woman also paid reparation amounting to $1,222.15 (P71,000) and was also disqualified from owning dogs for 12 months. – VC
