President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s continuous support in advancing and enhancing the capabilities and assets of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
President Marcos made the remark to further boost PCG’s response competency in any operations.
“This Administration reaffirms its support to efforts that will improve your fleet and our air assets as well, to maritime domain awareness, weapons capability, and necessary infrastructure development. This will boost your capacity to respond to any operation,” President Marcos said in his speech during the 123rd PCG Founding Anniversary in Port Area, Manila.
“Be assured, you are never alone in carrying the weight of this mission,” he added.
The President also commended PCG’s steadfast service and commitment to the country as demonstrated in every rescue operation, protection efforts, and enforcement of laws against illegal fishing and environmental degradation.
“Every rescue mission and every enforcement of laws against illegal fishing or environmental degradation sends a powerful message, a message that we can count on you whenever it matters most,” the President emphasized.
“Words and awards are always never enough to express our appreciation for your unwavering commitment and tireless service,” he added.
The President also noted the calm resolve of the PCG in the face of danger, demonstrating to the world that “embracing dialogue and cooperation is the true essence of strength.”
“You are the vigilant stewards of peace and order upon our seas, ensuring that the rule of law prevails across our waters,” he said.
Before concluding his speech, the President urged PCG to work with other concerned agencies to carry out its mission of safeguarding people and property at sea, preservation of the environment, and upholding maritime laws. (PCO)
