Dismayado si Fernando de la Pena, anak ng beteranang aktres na si Eva Darren, sa award giving body na Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) matapos ang ‘unprofessional treatment’ nito sa aktres sa katatapos na 72nd FAMAS Awards.
Kwento ni de la Pena sa kanyang social media post, nakatanggap ng imbitasyon mula sa FAMAS ang kanyang ina para maging awards presenter kasama ng beteranong aktor na si Tirso Cruz III ilang buwan na ang nakalipas.
“Mom was excited, bought the best dress and pair of heels she could afford and topped that with a nice package of hair and make up for the gala. Being the true professional that my mother is, she memorized and rehearsed her script to perfection, braved the downpour of a Signal No. 1 Typhoon warning and drove to the Manila Hotel,” paglalahad ni de la Pena.
Gayunpaman, sa mismong araw ng awards night, hindi aniya tinawag ang pangalan ng beteranang aktres para sa presentation ng awards at sa halip ay ibang celebrity ang nakasama sa stage ni Tirso.
“My mother never went on the stage,” pagpapatuloy ni de la Pena.
Dahil dito, ilang showbiz personalities at maraming netizens ang nagpahayag ng kanilang pagkadismaya sa award-giving body dahil sa kawalan nito ng kredibilidad bilang itinuturing na katumbas ng Oscar Awards sa USA.
Sa kanilang Facebook page, humingi na ng paumanhin ang FAMAS sa insidente at iginiit na hindi intensyunal kung ‘di ay ‘purely misjudgment’ lamang ang nangyari.
“We are writing this with a heavy heart especially after hearing that Miss Darren and her family were terribly hurt by this unintentional disregard to her presence and stature. We truly value Miss Darren and the rest of the veteran stars present last night true to the Homecoming Concept of the show,” paumanhin ng FAMAS. -AL
