MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Wednesday that no damage was incurred in several airports due to the magnitude 6.9 offshore Cebu earthquake.

These airports include the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), Bacolod Airport, Tacloban Airport, Calbayog Airport, Ormoc Airport, Maasin Airport, and Hilongos Airport.

At the MCIA, passengers were evacuated from the terminal building at around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday. They were allowed to enter the building after inspection and assessment.

Both the tower structure and runway sustained no damage, according to CAAP, and the MCIA also reported that operations are back to normal.

CAAP, meanwhile, said runway inspection is in progress at the Bacolod Airport. PAL and Cebu Pacific flights from Manila were temporarily held for landing during runway inspection.

The strong earthquake jolted Cebu province late Tuesday. Its epicenter was located 21 km. northeast of Bogo City.
