The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday said it has yet to receive a copy of the supposed arrest warrant issued against Sen. Ronald dela Rosa by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“It would be premature and speculative at this point to discuss this issue as no certainty exists that a warrant is even forthcoming,” DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said in a message to reporters.
“The DOJ reiterates that it has not seen or received a copy of any alleged warrant. In any event, the DOJ will always act in accordance with both domestic and international law,” he added.
Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said over the weekend that a warrant had been issued by the ICC in connection with the charges for crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon also expressed doubt as to Roque’s claim.
“I don’t know what his (Roque) basis is but we have not dated, received or seen a copy of the same. I do doubt though that Harry Roque has a copy as well, as definitely, he will not be among those who will be furnished with it,” Fadullon said. (PNA)
