Pormal nang naghain ng request ang House Blue Ribbon Committee sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) upang tukuyin ang civil registry records ng 677 na mga indibidwal na nakalista bilang recipient umano sa confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) pati na ng Department of Education (DepEd) noong kalihim pa si VP Sara Duterte.
Ayon kay Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua, chair ng House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, nagpadala na sila ng liham kay National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa para imbestigahan ang mga pangalan na nauugnay sa umano’y maanomalyang confidential funds.
Ito ay matapos makumpirma na wala sa database ng PSA ang mga pangalan na ‘Mary Grace Piattos’ at ‘Kokoy Villamin’ na kapwa nakalagda sa acknowledgment receipts (ARs) na ipinasa ng OVP at DepEd sa Commission on Audit.
Ang mga AR ay ginamit ng OVP at DepEd upang ma-justify ang P500 milyong confidential fund expenditure ng OVP simula sa huling bahagi ng 2022 hanggang sa ikatlong kwarter ng 2023, pati na ang P112.5 milyong pondong ginastos naman sa DepEd noong 2023.
“This is deeply troubling. If these two names don’t exist in official records, we have to question whether the other 677 names are legitimate or if they are part of a wider scheme to misuse funds,” saad ni Chua sa kanyang liham para kay Mapa.
Ayon pa sa mambabatas, isang ‘critical step’ ang verification process ng PSA upang matukoy ang ‘validity’ ng mga AR na isinumite sa kanila pati na ang ‘accountability’ sa paggamit ng pondo ng publiko.
“If even one peso was spent improperly, it is our responsibility to find out and hold those responsible to account,” saad ni Chua.
“Ensuring the authenticity of these recipients is crucial for maintaining transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. We are committed to uncovering the truth behind these transactions,” dagdag nito.
Pinabibilisan na ng komite ang verification process sa PSA at ipinasusumite ang electronic at hard copy ng resulta. – VC
