Binigyang-diin ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na malaking tulong ang pagkakaroon ng Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) sa disaster response at pagtugon sa iba pang climate crisis sa bansa.

Batid ng Pangulo na ang mga kalamidad na nararanasan ng bansa ngayon ay iba na kumpara noon at patuloy pa itong tumitindi dahil sa pandaigdigang climate change.

“We’re working very hard for the board to be based here in Manila because [of] its supreme importance for the Philippines, because of all of the risks that we are bracing [for], because of climate change,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos Jr.

Tiniyak naman ng punong ehekutibo na ginagawa ng administrasyon ang lahat ng posibleng solusyon upang maresolba o mapabagal ang malalang epekto ng climate change lalo na sa mga high-risk areas.

Ani Pangulo, kailangan lamang na magtulung-tulong ang lahat, hindi lang ng pamahalaan kundi pati na ang iba pang concerned organizations at mismong ang mamamayang Pilipino.

“The momentum since the industrial revolution is something that can’t be easily moved or stopped or at least redirected. In the meantime, I hope all of you can find a solution so that, we in the Philippines, most of our people do not suffer,” dagdag niya.

Bilang bahagi ng climate change mitigation measures, nagsumite ang Pilipinas noong Mayo 2024 ng National Adaptation Plan (NAP) sa United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at ang pagkakaroon ng Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Implementation Plan.

Kasabay nito, naglaan din ang gobyerno ng P457.4 bilyong halaga ng pondo para sa climate change-related programs, activities at projects. – VC
