President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. handed over PhP50 million in financial assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and their families in Pangasinan following the devastation brought by the series of typhoons to the province..
Of the figure, President Marcos extended PhP10,000 each to 5,000 needy farmers and fisherfolk.
In his speech during the distribution event, the President said the government aid aims to help typhoon victims rebuild their livelihoods.
Layunin nitong maging unang hakbang upang makaahon muli ang inyong kabuhayan,” President Marcos said.
The President assured typhoon victims of continued support through the collaboration of various agencies including the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Department of Labor and Employment.
At the same time, the President directed government agencies and local authorities to further intensify responses to the needs of Pangasinenses, many of whom require temporary shelters.
Pangasinan received immediate relief, the President said. Government assistance will not end with short-term solutions, he added. (PND)
