President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday led the inauguration of Universal Robina Corporation’s (URC) 10-hectare flour milling plant in Sariaya, Quezon, recognizing the facility as a milestone that will shape the future of the Philippine food industry.
Speaking during the inauguration, President Marcos highlighted URC’s vital role in bolstering food security, economic stability, and innovation in the country.
“In a time when every grain counts, this establishment will aid in ensuring that our people have the resources they need to nourish themselves and the future of our nation,” President Marcos said.
“With this new plant, the URC has positioned itself as a key player in our nation’s food security, driving economic stability and innovation,” he added.
President Marcos said URC’s state-of-the-art facility will significantly increase flour production by producing 3,500 metric tons per day.
This capacity is expected to meet the growing demands of the local market while ensuring the availability of high-quality food products for Filipinos.
The facility also underscores URC’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. It integrates advanced technologies aimed at reducing waste, enhancing operational efficiency, and minimizing its carbon footprint.
President Marcos also highlighted the plant’s role in addressing the country’s nutritional needs and reducing environmental impact.
