President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday touted the capacity of Meralco Terra Solar being the world’s largest solar power facility with battery.

In a media interview following the groundbreaking ceremony of the 3,500-hectare solar project, President Marcos pointed out the facility’s advantage of having a battery that can store power and assure continuous supply of energy.

“We are all very excited at the groundbreaking ceremony for this very, very important project ng Terra Solar. This is the largest solar power facility with battery,” President Marcos said.

Ito lang ang una sa buong mundo na nagkaroon ng, hindi lamang solar na three and a half thousand hectares, kung hindi may battery pa rin para tuloy-tuloy ang pagbigay ng kuryente sa grid,” he added.

The Chief Executive recognized the importance of technological advancement to satisfy
increasing demand on power. He also emphasized the sustainability of solar energy generation in the Philippines.

The President congratulated all those behind the Meralco Terra Solar Project and expressed the government’s commitment to support the undertaking.

“We congratulate all of those who put the project together. And we will be watching it and doing all that we can to help it along to make sure that it is a success.” (PND)
