Bumaba sa 49% ang bilang ng mga pamilyang Pilipinong itinuturing ang kanilang sarili bilang mahirap noong Hunyo, mula sa 52% noong Marso, batay sa second quarter 2026 survey ng Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Ayon sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), indikasyon ito na mas maraming pamilya ang nakararamdam na mas kaya na nilang tugunan ang kanilang pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan.
“The latest SWS survey showed that the Marcos Administration’s sustained investments in social protection and anti-poverty programs have helped poor families and vulnerable sectors address their immediate needs while improving their capacities to become self-sufficient,” ani DSWD spokesperson and Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao.
Isinagawa ng SWS ang survey mula Hunyo 20-29, na nilahukan ng 1,200 adult respondent mula sa buong bansa.
Ayon kay Dumlao, magsisilbing batayan ang resulta sa patuloy na pagpapalakas ng mga social protection program ng DSWD na nakatuon sa human capital investments, sustainable livelihoods, food security, at community resilience.
Kabilang sa mga programang binigyang-diin ng kagawaran ang Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Walang Gutom Program (WGP), at Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
Sa ilalim ng 4Ps, nagbibigay ang pamahalaan ng conditional cash grants at iba pang suporta para sa kalusugan at edukasyon ng mga bata.
Samantala, nakatuon ang WGP sa pagtugon sa food insecurity ng mga pamilya sa pamamagitan ng electronic benefit transfer cards.
Ang SLP naman ay nagbibigay ng mga oportunidad sa kabuhayan at pagkakakitaan para sa mahihirap at vulnerable na pamilya.
“Under the leadership of Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the DSWD’s goal is not simply to help poor families survive today. We want to ensure that they receive all the necessary support, opportunities, and capabilities they need to build a better future for their children,” giit ni Dumlao.
Bukod sa mga programang naglalayong maibsan ang kahirapan, nagpatupad din ang DSWD ng P5,000 cash relief assistance (CRA) para sa mga sektor na naapektuhan ng pagtaas ng presyo ng langis.
Batay sa datos, nakatulong ang cash aid sa mahigit 1.8 milyong driver ng public utility vehicles (PUV), Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS), motorcycle taxi, at service delivery rider sa buong bansa.
Bahagi ang ayuda ng Unified Package for Livelihood, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program.
Para sa ikalawang yugto ng CRA sa ilalim ng UPLIFT, sinimulan din ng DSWD ang pamamahagi ng tig-P2,000 ayuda sa mahigit 4.71 milyong mahihirap, near-poor, at low-income na Pilipino sa buong bansa.
Kabilang sa mga benepisyaryo ang mga miyembro ng 4Ps at WGP; mga mahihirap at near-poor na Pilipinong hindi kabilang sa 4Ps o WGP, batay sa 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); at mga low-income member ng Social Security System (SSS). – VC
