Tiniyak ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian na nakahanda na ang daan-daang libong family food packs (FFPs) sa Western at Central Visayas para sa mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng pagsabog ng bulkang Kanlaon nitong Lunes, Disyembre 9.
Ayon kay Gatchalian, nasa kabuuang 105,857 kahon ng FFPs ang nakaposisyon na sa Western Visayas habang 54,537 FFPs naman ang nakahanda sa DSWD warehouses sa Central Visayas.
“We have directed our regional directors in Regions 6 and 7 to coordinate with the chief executives of concerned local government units (LGUs). Rest assured that the DSWD is ready to respond with the inflow of evacuees and all forms of assistance will reach them in the earliest time possible,” pagtitiyak ni Gatchalian.
Bukod sa FFPs ay may nakahanda pang non-food items gaya ng kitchen kit, family kit, sleeping kit, hygiene kit, at laminated sacks sakaling kailanganin ng mga apektadong residente habang pansamantalang nanunuluyan sa mga evacuation center.
“In Western Visayas, we have more than Php57 million worth of non-food items and Php217,604 worth of other food items. We also have Php41 million worth of non-food items and Php1.64 million worth of other food items in Central Visayas,” dagdag niya.
Pasado alas-tres nitong Lunes, niyanig ng pagsabog ng bulkang Kanlaon ang mga komunidad sa Negros Island na nagdulot ng makapal na ashfall. – VC
