Ipinag-utos ni Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil ang agaran at muling pagbubukas sa ‘murder investigation’ kaugnay sa pinaslang na si Wesley Barayuga, retired police general at former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board secretary, ilang taon na ang nakalilipas.
Ang desisyon ni Marbil ay kasunod ng testimonya ni Police Lieutenant Colonel Santie Mendoza sa House Quad Committee hearing nitong Setyembre 27.
Ayon kay Mendoza, inutusan umano siya nina National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo at former PCSO General Manager Royina Garma para patayin si Barayuga.
Inamin ni Mendoza na si Garma umano ang nagbigay ng ‘intelligence’ report para palabasin na may kaugnayan ang pagpaslang kay Barayuga sa iligal na droga.
“This revelation demands a thorough reinvestigation of the murder. No one is above the law, and we will seek justice for Ret. Gen. Wesley Barayuga and his family with the full resources of the PNP,” saad ng PNP Chief.
Inatasan na ang Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) na humawak sa muling pagbubukas ng naturang kaso upang pag-aralan nang maigi ang mga ebidensya kasunod ng mga bagong testimonya.
“We are committed to uncovering the truth, regardless of the position or power of those involved. The public can rest assured that we will hold those responsible accountable,” pangako ni Gen. Marbil. -VC
