Negros Power has fully restored electricity across Central Negros following the consecutive impacts of Typhoons Tino and Uwan on November 4 and 9, marking a major milestone in the region’s recovery.
As of November 27, 2025, the distribution utility reported that 100% of lateral lines have been re- energized, bringing power back to nearly 250,000 customers in record time despite the extensive damage brought by the two storms.
Negros Power’s service area covers the cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay, and Bago, as well as the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.
In a statement, the company expressed deep gratitude to government officials, barangay leaders, volunteers, augmentation teams, contractors, and especially its linemen and technical crews, whose coordinated efforts enabled the swift restoration.
“This accomplishment reflects the true Bayanihan spirit,” said Negros Power President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro.
The Department of Energy (DOE) also recognized the rapid response. In a public post last week, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin praised both the company and the communities for their “extraordinary speed and safety” in restoring power amid severe conditions.
Consumer groups echoed this sentiment. Wennie Sancho, President of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS), lauded the resilience shown across the island.
“In the aftermath of devastation—when Typhoon Tino plunged much of Negros Island into darkness—the people of Central Negros rose once again with resilience, unity, and an unshakeable resolve,” Sancho shared.
“At the forefront of this effort were the brave men and women of Negros Power. As a consumer group that monitored these efforts on the ground, ACCESS proudly commends Negros Power for its effective, timely, and compassionate response,” he added.
With households and businesses now fully energized, Central Negros is steadily returning to normalcyan—outcome attributed to the unwavering dedication of responders and the enduring resilience of Negrenses.
