The Department of Health (DOH) has delivered PHP 1.7 million worth of health supplies to Catanduanes, one of the provinces hardest hit by Super Typhoon Uwan.

On Saturday, the DOH said the shipment, consisting of hygiene and breastfeeding kits, water containers, purification tablets, and medicines, was received by the Catanduanes Provincial Health Office on Nov. 13, the same day of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s visit.

The items address the immediate health needs identified through assessments by the DOH-Bicol Center for Health Development and the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Cluster.

On top of this, the department is ramping up efforts to establish water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and has deployed teams to improve public health facilities in different parts of Catanduanes.

In addition, monitoring of injuries, waterborne diseases, and other health-related incidents is also ongoing.

Marcos inspected areas devastated by Super Typhoon Uwan, which made landfall and left a trail of destruction on the island province on Nov. 9.

He instructed government agencies to continue providing relief and assistance to the residents and help them recover as soon as possible.
