Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin asserted on Tuesday that Malacañang has no connection with self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato who reportedly left the country.
“Wala kaming masabi d’yan dahil we have no connection with Mr. Matobato. Whatever his purpose in going out, we cannot control that,” Executive Secretary Bersamin told the Malacañang Press Corps.
Executive Secretary Bersamin made the remarks when asked to comment on New York Times reports that Matobato, an alleged hitman of the Davao Death Squad, was able to leave the country with his wife and two stepchildren.
Bersamin clarified that Malacañang has no control of Matobato if he intends to testify against the drug war of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
“Hindi namin siya ini-encourage, hindi rin dini-discourage,” he said. (PND)
