Recognizing the key role of local governments in promoting development, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday urged local chief executives to continue carrying out essential programs to improve the education sector.

During the oath-taking ceremony for the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) National Executive Board (NEB) and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) National Executive Officers in Malacañang, President Marcos said the people expect true public service from their leaders.

At nagsisimula ito sa magandang kalidad na edukasyon,” the President said, encouraging local governments to continue carrying out essential programs to improve the education sector.

President Marcos cited the Early Childhood Care and Development Program, which aims to establish Childhood Development Centers (CDCs) under local government units in preparation for young children’s formal education.

The government has allocated PhP316 million for the program in fiscal year 2026, with PhP264 million earmarked for the construction and improvement of CDCs nationwide.

(PND)
