The Philippines, through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), will send six skilled youth to participate in the 3rd WorldSkills Asia Competition, to be held from November 27 to 29 in Taipei, Taiwan.

The WorldSkills Asia Competition serves as a premier platform for young professionals and technical experts to showcase their world-class skills, foster cultural exchange, and promote collaboration among participating nations.

This year’s event is expected to gather over 500 competitors, experts, and professionals from 29 member and guest countries across Asia.

Representing the Philippines are: Hannah Krystelle Caintic in Graphic Design Technology; Agee Docayso in Cooking; James Calvin Sayago in Electrical Installations; Denmark Abuyog in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; and, Roneil Arriesgado and Abraham Badar in Mechatronics.

Of the six competitors, four were gold medalists while the other two earned Medallions for Excellence in their respective skill areas during the recently held WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 last September.

TESDA’s participation in WorldSkills Asia aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s thrust to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET)as a driver of national development and inclusive growth. Under the President’s leadership, the administration continues to invest in skills development to equip Filipinos for quality employment and global competitiveness.

TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez emphasized that the Philippines’ active participation in international skills competitions not only demonstrates the capability of Filipino workers but also enhances the country’s reputation as a champion of skills excellence.

“Through WorldSkills, we affirm our commitment to empowering Filipino youth and workers through world-class training and opportunities that meet international standards,” Sec. Kiko said.

Anchored on Section 30 of Republic Act No. 7796 (TESDA Act of 1994), TESDA continues to promote quality skills development and international collaboration through participation in global skills competitions, strengthening the Philippines’ position as a key player in the future of skills and innovation in Asia.
