Nananawagan ang Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa publiko na patuloy ipagdasal ang kalusugan ni Pope Francis na ngayon ay nasa kritikal na kondisyon.
Ayon sa pahayag ng Vatican bandang 7:07 p.m. nitong Sabado, Pebrero 22 (Rome time), nakaranas ang Santo Papa ng ‘asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity’ na nangangailangan ng ‘high-flow oxygen’.
“The condition of the Holy Father continues to be critical. Therefore, as explained yesterday, the Pope is not out of danger. This morning, Pope Francis experienced an asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity, which required the administration of high-flow oxygen,” saad ng Vatican.
“Today’s blood tests also revealed thrombocytopenia, associated with anemia, which required the administration of blood transfusions,” dagdag nito.
Nananatiling naka-confine si Pope Francis sa Gemelli Hospital sa Rome mula pa noong Pebrero 14.
Noong Pebrero 17, sinabi ng mga doktor na mayroong ‘respiratory tract infection’ ang Santo Papa na naiuwi sa isang ‘complex clinical situation’.
Kinabukasan, Pebrero 18, sinabi ng Vatican na nakitaan ito ng senyales ng double pneumonia.
Gayunpaman, bumuti ang kalagayan ni Pope Francis noong Pebrero 20 ngunit sinabing hindi pa ligtas mula sa panganib.
“Let us continue to pray for Pope Francis,” panawagan ng CBCP.
