Naabot na ng Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) ang 98% completion ng nationwide Patient Transport Vehicle (PTV) rollout, na naipamahagi na sa 1,620 mula sa 1,642 lungsod at munisipalidad sa Pilipinas.
Sa turnover ceremony sa New Government Center, Bacolod City nitong Martes, Nobyembre 25, 82 bagong PTV ang naipamahagi sa mga lokal na pamahalaan sa Western Visayas at Negros Island Region.
Dumalo sa seremonya si PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, Chairman retired Judge Felix Reyes, Director Jennifer Guevara, at Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya.
Mula sa 82 sasakyan, 37 ang inilaan sa Negros Island Region: 11 sa Negros Occidental; 22 sa Negros Oriental, at 4 sa Siquijor. Samantala, 45 ang napunta sa Western Visayas: Guimaras (1); Aklan (7); Antique (8); Capiz (9); at Iloilo Province (20).
Ayon kay GM Robles, ito ay sumasailalim sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na ‘work faster, reach farther, serve better.’
“The milestone achieved today echoes the President’s assertion in Butuan City that if we do not have a healthy population, we cannot have a happy nation. We must bring healthcare directly to the people,” ani Robles.
Ayon naman kay Mayor Gasataya, dahil dito, mas mabilis at ligtas na naihahatid ang mga may sakit at vulnerable sa komunidad na mahalaga rin sa disaster response, lalo na sa mga apektado ng bagyo.
“These vehicles will be crucial for disaster response and community support, especially during recent typhoons that hit Negros Occidental and surrounding areas,” saad ng alkalde.
Para sa taong 2025, naglaan ang PCSO ng P1 bilyon para sa karagdagang 395 PTV, upang mas mapalawak ang serbisyong pangkalusugan sa buong bansa at matugunan ang pangangailangan ng mga malalayong lugar. –VC
