Umabot na sa P841.4 milyon ang halagang nakuha ng pamahalaan mula sa mga sangkot sa mga maanomalyang flood control project at naipadala na sa National Treasury sa pamamagitan ng Land Bank of the Philippines, ayon sa Department of Justice (DOJ).
Narito ang mga salaping isinuko at ibinalik ng apat na mga indibidwal na tinanggap sa ilalim ng Witness Protection Program ng gobyerno:
- P500 milyon – dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernadro
- P181.4 milyon – DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara
- P140 milyon – suspended National Capital Region District Engineer Gerald Opulencia
- P20 milyon – SYMS Construction Trading owner Sally Santos
Tiniyak ng DOJ ang patuloy na paghahanap sa mga indibidwal na nasa likod ng ghost projects kaugnay sa flood control.
Pinasalamatan naman ng ahensya si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa pagtitiwalang ipinagkaloob sa National Prosecution Service sa kanyang ikalimang State of the Nation Address (SONA) nitong Lunes, Hulyo 27.
Sa huli, nangako ang DOJ na gagampanan ang tungkulin nito sa tulong ng pakikipag-ugnayan sa Office of the Ombudsman.
“The DOJ will do its part in close coordination with the Office of the Ombudsman, whose constitutional mandate we respect absolutely. Where the law places a case in our hands, we will build it to the standards that stand in court. That is what the rule of law requires, and what the Filipino people deserve,” ayon sa justice bureau. – IP
