CLARK, PAMPANGA — Kenya owned the finish line in Clark as Victor Kipkemei Chepkwony and Ziporah Wanjiru Kingori powered their way to the men’s and women’s 42K titles in the Singlife One Clark International Marathon on Sunday.
Chepkwony set the pace from the field, crossing the line in 2:24:28 to take the men’s crown. Fellow Kenyans Glady Kiptoo and Eric Chepsiror followed to complete the podium.
Kingori made it a Kenyan sweep in the women’s marathon, clocking 2:49:20 for the championship, ahead of Purity Serem at 3:04:50.
Filipino runners, meanwhile, put up strong performances on home ground. Allan Arbois Jr. led the local men with a 2:32:16 finish, while Christine Hallasgo topped the Filipino women in 3:08:47.
Hallasgo edged Jessa Mae Roda, who finished just 21 seconds behind, while Maricar Camacho placed third among the local women. Arbois was followed by Dickyias Mendioro and Bernard Caluza in the men’s division.
The race also featured 21K, 10K and 5K categories, bringing thousands of runners to the Clark course. In the international 21K, Daniel Boiwo and Pamela Chepkoech Bundotich took the men’s and women’s titles, while Ricky Organiza and Edna Magtubo topped the local 21K races.
Adding another highlight to race day, a BYD Seagull was raffled off among participants.
Presented by Singlife Philippines and organized by RUNRIO, the event was held with SM Supermalls and SM Clark as race-day partners, along with support from Gatorade, Cristalino, BYD, Nyxsys and other sponsors.
From elite international runners to weekend warriors chasing their own personal bests, Clark delivered a fast-paced day of competition, endurance and running passion. (End)
