Malugod na tinanggap ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang pag-apruba sa Qualification Standards (QS) ng mga bagong posisyon ng counselor na magpapalakas ng serbisyo para sa mental health sa mga paaralan.
Sa ilalim ng Civil Service Commision (CSC) Resolution No. 2600920, aprubado na ang QS para sa mga sumusunod na posisyon, bilang pagsunod sa Republic Act 12080 o ang Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act:
- Schools Division Counselor (SDC)
- School Counselor I to IV
- Counselor Associate (SCA) I to V
“It establishes the professional standards for our school counseling workforce and brings us closer to ensuring that learners across the country have greater access to quality mental health and psychosocial support services in our schools,” ayon kay DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara.
Maaring lumikha ng 10,000 mga posisyon para sa School Counselor Associate I ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) matapos ang inaprubahang QS na ide-deploy sa mga pampublikong paaralan sa School Year 2026-2027.
“By rolling out this dedicated workforce of counselors and counselor associates, we are taking a concrete step toward fulfilling the directive of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. to transform our schools into centers of genuine care, protection, and well-being,” saad ng kalihim.
Paghahandaan naman ng DepEd ang implementation guidelines kasunod ng mga bagong nalikhang posisyon, kabilang na ang polisiya para sa recruitment, appointment at deployment ng mga kwalipikadong School Counselor Associates alinsunod sa mga batas at regulasyon sa civil service. – VC
