The Philippines must develop expertise in disaster risk reduction to mitigate the impacts of climate change, according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

President Marcos said specialization in this field would also reduce casualties from recurring natural disasters like typhoons.

“Bahagi na talaga ito ng pamumuhay natin. Itinuturing na high-risk ang ating bansa sa epekto ng climate change,” the President said in his news vlog posted Friday.

Disaster risk reduction, both the public at saka private sector.

President Marcos said climate change has led to extreme weather conditions that impacted critical sectors in the country.

He noted with concern that more communities previously unaffected by flooding are now experiencing it for the first time.

Talagang extreme weather conditions,” the President said.

President Marcos encouraged Filipinos to include in their prayers families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon.

(PND)
