Malaking pag-angat ang naitala ng mga estudyanteng Pilipino sa tatlong pangunahing bahagi ng Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2025 mula nang huling lumahok ang bansa sa pandaigdigang pagsusulit noong 2022.
Masayang ibinalita ni Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara ang resulta sa isang seremonya sa Caloocan City Science High School ngayong Martes, Setyembre 8.
Batay sa resulta, nakakuha ang Pilipinas ng 373 puntos sa Science, 371 sa Mathematics, at 367 sa reading.
Ang mga numero ay mas mataas kumpara sa PISA 2022, kung saan tumaas ang puntos ng bansa ng 17 sa Science, 16 sa Mathematics, at 20 puntos sa reading.
Dumami rin ang mga estudyanteng umabot sa Level 2 o mas mataas, na itinuturing na minimum na antas ng kasanayan sa PISA.
Batay sa average score, nalampasan ng Pilipinas ang 14 na bansa sa Science, 16 na bansa sa Mathematics, at 18 na bansa sa reading.
“This is a significant achievement for our learners and for the entire Philippine education system,” saad ni Angara.
Ayon sa Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), pinakamabilis ang pag-unlad ng Pilipinas sa reading kumpara sa ibang kalahok na bansa sa loob ng 10 taon.
Pinuri ni OECD Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher ang mga guro at school leaders ng bansa.
“What you have achieved in this latest round of OECD’s PISA assessment is not just good news for the Philippines, it’s a story that deserves to be noticed far beyond your borders,” ani Schleicher.
Sa kabila ng positibong resulta, sinabi ng DepEd na hindi dapat matapos sa pagdiriwang ang mga numerp, sa halip ay magsilbing inspirasyon upang higit na mapabuti ang learning outcomes ng mga mag-aaral.
“We should be proud of how far our learners and teachers have come, but we should be even more determined about how much farther we can go,” ani Angara. – VC
