Technology giant, Google, will be launching its new ‘Find My Device’ network, a location-tracking service, which aims to help users locate lost or stolen devices even when offline.

The new network will create an interconnected web of Android devices wherein it can assist each other in locating lost items which will also allow tracking down devices even if there is no Wi-Fi or cellular data.

‘Find My Device’ has similarities to Apple’s Find My network, or the AirTag as the devices included will use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. This will be used to notify nearby devices, relaying the location back to the device’s owner.

This network can be used in several devices like smartphones, earbuds, headphones, and trackers in which all data within the network will be encrypted with password, PIN, or a pattern.

Meanwhile, users can opt out of the new network if they would like to.
